Natural Beauty
Say hello to the new definition of style: fusing nature’s beauty with sleek modernity.
As part of its 2023 Design Trends, the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) noted that designers are blending various design elements to craft customized styles for clients, including Organic Modern, Modern Farmhouse, Nature Inspired, and Minimalist Modern designs. These styles incorporate organic, contemporary, and minimalist elements while utilizing color palettes reminiscent of the great outdoors.

A contemporary dream, melding sleek lines with an earthy palette of neutrals, this bath features the look of aged wood with Hollywood™ ceramic floor tile.
Natural Beauty, Defined
Biophilic design emphasizes our innate connection to nature and continues to gain prominence. This trend incorporates materials like wood, stone, clay, cotton, and ceramics, which offer a tangible and down-to-earth appeal. These genuine and unpretentious elements, celebrated for their textural richness, cultivate an atmosphere of laid-back, organic sophistication that contributes to overall well-being and aligns with sustainability goals.

Warm wood tones frame vibrant green tile in a modern interpretation of natural style. Featuring Raku™ ceramic tile in Olive from top to bottom.
Key characteristics include handcrafted imperfections, floral motifs, terrazzo-inspired aesthetics, fluted patterns, and the prevalence of arches. These design elements, in combination with warm, desert-inspired neutrals and terracotta tones, along with cool greens and blues, encapsulate the essence of the natural world.

Designer Jennifer Farrell features tile throughout her lovingly renovated Calibu Vineyard. Here in the kitchen Passion™ ceramic tile in Azul serves as an eye-catching wall statement, while the floor features Pocono™ glazed porcelain in Oak. Pocono, which was installed in a herringbone pattern, runs through the entire length of the home’s first floor.
Tile and stone, with their tactile authenticity, are prime examples of how the Natural Beauty design trend manifests in both form and function.

Recreate the look of Italian marble with Nobleza™ glazed porcelain. Both subtle and stunning, it mirrors the color variation found in natural marble, with all the benefits inherent in porcelain tile.
This October, in celebration of Kitchen & Bath month, enjoy a deeper look at the Natural Beauty trend and its warm and cool color palettes – perfect tones for two of our favorite rooms.
